Be a PTA Volunteer!
Please download the Volunteer Application and turn it into your child's teacher or the school office.
Here are some of the opportunities available for volunteers:
Accelerated Reader (Incentive Party Helper): Arrange purchase/pick up of food for donut/pizza parties. Be present at parties to help where needed. One or two days per month commitment mostly before school and during lunch hours.
Accelerated Reader (Lab Assistant): Help students taking computer tests on books read for the AR reading incentive program. Minimal computer skills required – we will provide training. Approximately 1 hour per week.
Baking: Be on a list to provide baked goods for teachers, staff appreciation events, and PTA functions 1-3 times per year. PLEASE PUT EMAIL ADDRESS!
Beautification: Help maintain school landscaping – weeding, mulching, planting. One Saturday morning per year or after school as needed.
Book Fair: There are two book fairs yearly, one in December and another in the spring.
Clinic Assistant: Assist the school nurse with vision/hearing screening and paperwork – once or twice per year.
Dinner Theater: Help to decorate, serve food, or clean up for a dinner to be served during our theater night. This is a one-time event, this year’s date is October 12th.
Frosty’s Wonderland: In-school store where children can purchase small gifts for upcoming holidays. Assist children in selecting items and ringing up purchases.
Holiday Shop: Help with December Holiday Shop where students can make small craft items, cards, and visit Santa. To be held Saturday, December 11th.
Labels for Education: Help collect and cut cereal box and soup can labels for the label program. We earn money and equipment for the students through these programs. 1-2 hours per month.
Library: Shelve books, help children select books, help with bulletin boards, book fairs, activity centers, and more. Flexible hours and time commitment.
Picture Day Helper: Help line up students for pictures, tidy hair, etc. Two to three hours twice per year.
Production Room: Making copies and preparing materials for teachers. Copy machine, Risograph, and laminator training required.
Recess Helper: Assist in supervising recess 11:15-12:30pm. One to two hour commitment per week.
Science Room Volunteer: Help to coordinate hands-on science experiments. 1-2 hours per week.
SOL Hall Monitor: Help keep the 3rd and 5th grade hallways quiet during Spring SOL testing. A one day commitment for approximately 3 hours.
Spring Carnival: Many helpers needed here. Planning games, food set-up and clean-up.
Teacher’s Helper: Help classroom teacher by creating classroom materials, copying, putting up bulletin boards and hall displays, correcting papers, and possibly working with students individually or in small groups. Usually requires 1-3 hours per week – you set up best time/day with the teacher. If you prefer to help in YOUR OWN CHILD’S CLASSROOM, PLEASE SPEAK WITH YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER INDIVIDUALLY.
Volunteer Pool: Be on a list of people we can call for special events or when a special volunteer need arises. Usually an hour here or there during the school day. PLEASE INDICATE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!
